Commercial Pest Control

Fire Ants

Fire Ants

A Monthly Service Plan

This program is designed to treat and monitor for fire ants as part of an ongoing pest control program.

The pest management professional knows that the origin of most ant infestations is usually located around the perimeter area of the structure. The ants enter the building in search of food and water. They forage along walls and baseboards, and frequently under carpeted surfaces. By following the trail, we can determine their approximate entry point into the structure.

INSPECTION begins with a customer interview, followed by a thorough visual inspection for pest IDENTIFICATION and DETERMINATION of a course of action. The pest professional makes thorough notes of all findings and always invites the customer to participate in the inspection process. He then develops a graph and site plan that outlines his findings.

Intensive Control & Prevention Measures are as Follows:

Exterior

Nest & Broadcast Treatment
With the truck mounted spray rig and the typical spray wand, the technician sprays around mound and then into the mound with a liquid residual material to the point that the mound overflows.

Bait
He applies granular bait to dry soil in and around the nesting site to suppress egg production and affect foragers, stragglers and other budding colonies. Baits are especially effective in the control of ants, because this social insect readily shares with other colony members. It is best to apply bait when no rain is expected and not in the heat of the day, but rather in the late afternoon when ants are foraging.

Exclusion If ants are trailing inside, then minor exclusionary measures are imposed to eliminate entry points into the structure. Areas commonly sealed include cracks & crevices in stucco, block, drywall and around doors & windows.

Interior

Mechanical Removal
The technician uses a hepa vacuum to physically remove any live ants found on the interior.

Pheromone Removal
Using rubbing alcohol or a disinfectant on a rag or paper towel, the tech rubs the surfaces where ants are trailing to destroy their pheromone trail.

Crack & Crevice Trailing Sites
If ants are found above the interior first floor level, then the technician uses a Getz duster and clean paint brush with a boron based powder to treat outlets and along baseboards where they meet the floor.

Communication

Once the job is completed, the pest control professional discusses with the customer, either in person or by phone, his inspection findings and exclusionary & treatment activities imposed. Sanitation issues that encourage ant activity are identified and documented to assist in the implementation of a good pest management program. Recommendations might include removing trash from the structure no less than daily, repair of leaks and replacement of moisture damaged wood, and/or keeping landscaping trimmed & away from the building’s foundation. The professional also lets the customer know what he should expect based on the intensive treatment performed and what follow-up is needed to ensure that the pest management program is successful. As always, the tech thanks the customer for their business.

The pest management professional also quality controls the project and responds to any customer questions or concerns.
